Interaction Design for Wishood, an Internet start-up

Wishood is a place where users create personal wishlists and share them with their friends who can help (or make) their wishes come true.

I provided Interaction Design services and shaped a raw idea for the service into a complete-with-all details interactive design. This entailed conducting user research, designing a physical experience prototype as well as a full interaction concept. I then collaborated with a graphic designer on the final product version.

User Study and Concept Diagrams

I conducted a user study, which included interviewing a focus group of potential users and subject matter experts. What emerged were clear patterns and behaviors surrounding the wish-making process; for example, the close coupling of wishes and events as well as a differentiation between abstract wishes (e.g.,happiness) and concrete wishes (e.g. an iphone or new toy). To summarize my findings, I created user profiles, motivational diagrams, and entity diagrams.

Experience Prototype

Following the user study, I formulated an initial interaction concept for the service. In order to test the concept and to examine how people make and fulfill wishes, I created a quick physical experience prototype that was distributed amongst the focus group members.

Wireframes

We improved by iteration the initial design by using wireframes. User studies at various stages allowed us to simplify the concept by increments, until the final design was reached.

Detailed Interaction

One of the interaction components I designed was a suggestion wizard that helped potential wish fulfillers discover what their friends might be wishing for. This took into account both an event and the relationship between the giver and the recipient.
